Opportunities to Serve

ORPHAN MINISTRY

Mission: God expects the church to care for orphans (James 1:27). The Orphan Ministry Team of First Baptist encourages Christ-followers in our church and community to get involved in adoption and foster care.

Opportunity:

  • When: March 1 at 9:00 AM-1:30 PM OR 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM

  • What: Foster Parent Training Volunteers - provide free childcare with activities during the Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Training. This training is for any foster/adopt/kinship and bio parent who is caring for a child coming from a hard place. We need help in the childcare rooms, but we also need fun and engaging activities for the kiddos to do throughout the day!

FRIENDS OF INDIA

Mission: Friends of India, in partnership with First Baptist Church Cumming, is dedicated to sharing the love of Christ with the Indian community in Forsyth County, GA. Through compassionate service, cultural understanding, and faith-driven outreach, we aim to build bridges, foster relationships, and spread the message of hope and salvation to all.

Opportunities:

  • When: March 8 OR March 22 from 3 PM - 5 PM

  • What: Prayer Walk - Walk around predominantly Indian neighborhoods and pray for the families.

THE PLACE OF FORSYTH - Visit Website

Mission: Our mission is to assist the people of Forsyth and Dawson County areas with essential needs and to be self-sustaining.

Opportunities:

  • When: March 13, March 20, OR March 27 from 1 PM - 3 PM

  • What: Food Warehouse Volunteers - Sort and organize non-perishable food items on shelves - minimum age requirement 18.

  • When: March 15, March 22, OR March 29 from 10 AM - Noon

  • What: Thrift Store Sorting & Organizing - Help sort and organize our thrift store where .92 cents on the dollar of our sales go back to our programs.

MEALS BY GRACE - Visit Website

Mission: Our mission is to bring food, hope & transformation to children and families in need, with resources from our community, so that children can go to bed happy, not hungry.

Opportunities:

  • When: March 16 OR March 23 from 1 PM - 2:30 PM

  • What: Serve Day at Keith Bridge - The main goal for our weekend service day is preparing and delivering food to children and families in our communities. And you are an essential part of that! We have a variety of service teams from making laundry detergent to packing canned goods.

  • When: March 18 OR 25 from 1 PM - 4 PM

  • What: Stock Food Pantry - Fill the food pantry at Meals by Grace - minimum age requirement 16.

FAMILY HAVEN - Visit Website

Mission: Family Haven in Forsyth County Georgia is there to help provide resources, safe temporary shelter, crisis support, and referral services for victims of violence.

Opportunity:

  • When: March 8 at 9:00 AM

  • What: Wash Windows of Shelter - We could accommodate a group of 6-8 people to help wash the outside of the shelter windows.

CUMMING HOME MINISTRIES - Visit Website

Mission: Cumming Home Ministries offers consultation, counseling and addiction treatment placement assistance to people in a hopeless state of mind as a result of alcoholism/addiction and untreated mental health conditions.

Opportunity:

  • When: March 22 from 9 AM - 1 PM

  • What: Sprucing Up for Spring at the Thrift Store - Kids and parents can help with restocking, rearranging merchandise, and decorating the store for a fresh spring look. There are also a few light painting projects. Cooking and serving hot dogs and lunch for customers. Your contributions will create a welcoming space for shoppers and support our mission.

MULTICULTURAL MINISTRY

Mission: Our Multicultural Ministry is committed to bringing people together to experience the love of Jesus across cultures. By building authentic relationships and creating a welcoming environment, we seek to share the hope and healing found in Christ, encouraging unity and mutual support as we grow together in faith.

Opportunity:

  • When: March 22 at 12:00 PM

  • What: Friendship Gathering - Provide food for 40 students and join us in the Multicultural Building for a lunch with the FBC Learning Center Students.

RAMADAN DINNER FELLOWSHIP MISSION OPPORTUNITY

Mission: We are excited about this opportunity to engage with our Muslim neighbors through a meal.

HBA - HIGHTOWER BAPTIST ASSOCIATION FOOD BANK - Visit Website

Mission: The Hightower Baptist Association is a group of local churches in Forsyth, Dawson, Cherokee, Gwinnett, and Fulton Counties whom work and worship together with a common goal of reaching our communities for Christ.

Opportunity:

  • When: March 8 from 7:30 AM - Noon

  • What: Volunteer at Food and Clothing Bank - sort and distribute food.

FEED FORSYTH CHILDREN

Mission: To ensure that children in Forsyth County are fed during the holiday breaks during the year.

Opportunity:

  • When: March 27 at 9:30 AM

  • What: Pack Food Bags - We will pack bags for children for spring break in the hallway outside of FK Auditorium 2.

WHISPERING HOPE - Cumming Women's Center - Visit Website

Mission: Acknowledging that every human life begins at conception and is worthy of protection, Whispering Hope offers compassion, hope and help for anyone vulnerable to abortion by presenting life-affirming alternatives and support and by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Opportunities:

  • When: March 28 from 9 AM-12 PM

  • What: Spring Cleanup at the Cumming Women’s Center - Power-washing sidewalks and sides of the building, window cleaning, flower refresh/replant, mulch refresh, paint touch-up.
