hear how god opened will’s eyes…

I grew up in a Christian family, so my whole childhood consisted of waking up super early on Sunday morning to go to church and going to Awanas on Wednesday night. If I’m being completely honest, I cannot remember a time in my life where I didn’t have an understanding of the Gospel. I had an understanding that I was an image-bearer of God, that I had turned my back on God, and that I needed some sort of mediation to get right with God. When I was 8 years old, I came to grasps with the fact that Jesus was my mediation and I surrendered my life to following him the rest of my life.

Even though I had an understanding of the Gospel, I struggled with the next steps. I fell into a state of complacency and had a hard time moving forward in my walk with Jesus. When I was 16 years old, I took my first trip overseas to Pattaya, Thailand with a missions team from FBC Cumming. It was on this trip that my faith became real to me. Throughout this journey, and culture shock, God opened my eyes to the depth of brokenness in the world. It was on this trip that God revealed the urgency of sharing the Gospel.

My family had been going to FBC Cumming for about a year before I was born, so I was basically born and raised at FBC Cumming. Throughout my time at FBC, I have been involved in numerous ministries such as children’s, middle school, high school, and now college. I also served as the missions intern for two years. Throughout my time at FBC, I have been a part of various short-term mission trips both local and abroad. During my time at FBC, the people involved in these ministries have all invested in me and encouraged me and have given me the opportunity to grow in my faith journey.

I am currently a sophomore at the University of North Georgia where I am a Sociology major. After I hopefully graduate from UNG, I plan on attending seminary to better equip me with the tools to serve full-time in ministry. God has used the different ministries and people at FBC to put me on the path that I am on and I am incredibly grateful for role that FBC has played in my life.
